The dust-free level requirements of dust-free paint spraying lines usually vary according to the needs of different industries and products. Generally, the classification of levels refers to the ISO 14644-1 international standard. Here are some common dust-free levels and their application situations in dust-free paint spraying lines:
ISO Class 5 (equivalent to Class 100): There are no more than 100 particles with a diameter of ≥0.5μm per cubic meter of air. It is applicable to occasions where extremely high requirements for painting quality are imposed, such as the painting of aerospace components, the casings of high-end electronic products, and precision instruments and meters. These products have extremely strict requirements for surface smoothness, flatness, and impurity content. Painting in such a dust-free environment can avoid dust particles mixing into the coating to the greatest extent, ensure the uniformity and appearance quality of the coating, and prevent surface defects caused by dust from affecting the performance and aesthetics of the products.
ISO Class 6 (equivalent to Class 1000): There are no more than 1000 particles with a diameter of ≥0.5μm per cubic meter of air. It can be used for some industrial products with relatively high requirements for painting quality, such as high-end automotive parts, high-quality furniture, and some optical products. Conducting painting operations in a dust-free environment of this level can ensure better quality on the product surface, reduce the impact of dust on the coating, and make the products have good gloss and durability.
ISO Class 7 (equivalent to Class 10000): There are no more than 10,000 particles with a diameter of ≥0.5μm per cubic meter of air. It is applicable to the painting of general industrial products, such as the bodies of ordinary automobiles, the casings of home appliances, and building decoration materials. It can meet the requirements of most conventional products for the surface quality of painting, effectively control the pollution of the coating by dust, and make the products have certain appearance quality and protective performance.
ISO Class 8 (equivalent to Class 100000): There are no more than 100,000 particles with a diameter of ≥0.5μm per cubic meter of air. It can be used for products with relatively low requirements for painting cleanliness, such as the outer surfaces of some large mechanical equipment and ordinary metal products. Although the control requirements for dust particles are relatively loose, it can still ensure that there will not be too many impurities affecting the basic performance of the coating during the painting process.
